ACA provides a variety of free services to help meet the needs of low income people throughout Addison County. Services include; emergency food assistance, housing assistance, fuel and utility assistance, information and referral, Farm to Family Program and advocacy.
ACA staff is happy to assist with filling out forms and applications for such programs as Reach-Up, Food Stamps, Fuel Assistance and the Health Care programs - Medicaid, Vermont Health Access Plan (VHAP), Dr. Dynasaur and Women, Infants and Children (WIC).
ACA is the only Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site in Addison County, helping low income households prepare their tax forms from February 1st through April 15th. Returns are electronically filed, resulting in a speedy refund. ACA can refer Green Mountain Power customers to their 2 programs, Power Partners and Energy Support Program. Income eligible households may be eligible for matching funds and/or a 10% discount on monthly usage. Call our office for more details.
The Addison Community Action (ACA) food shelf is located at their office in the State Office Complex, 700 Exchange Street, Suite 107 in Middlebury. The hours are 8 am until 4 pm, Monday through Friday, except holidays. Last year ACA provided 1,506 or 3,476 households with a 3 day supply of emergency food. Cash donations plus more than 46,000 pounds of food was donated to the food shelf by local individuals, businesses and organizations including The United Way of Addison County.
